Argentina food
The City of Buenos Aires is full of little family stores, that sell a little bit of everything,  we
wonder how long these stores will survive due to all the big wall mart type supermarkets
that are all over.
Along with the little stores are many small restaurants, many of these buffet style
Chinese, you can eat as much as you like for 2.5 us.
As we were there in spring we enjoyed buying cherries, strawberries and asparagus that are
sold on almost every corner.
Argentina is proud of it's pasta, but we did not find it very interesting as the fresh pasta
is made with addition of water, and in need of texture....
We were delighted with the empanadas, even the cheapest parrilla had an expert asador,
though meat varied very much in quality, we found that even the cheapest cut of meat
bought outside of the city was much better quality than some more expensive cuts in the
city.
Fish was something almost impossible the find fresh, even the beach city's sold frozen fish,
we were told that this was due to the fact that the fish was frozen on the boat ??   We did
manage to buy very good oysters at the Gigante supermarket.
Wine, well what can I say? Cheap, good and very varied, you can buy a bottle of nice  wine
for as little as 2 us.
In the area of Trevelin and Esquel there are many tea houses, where you can fill yourself
with delicious homemade breads and cakes.
